Nivedita Basu: People have become too lazy to watch films in theatres

Nivedita Basu, VP Content and Business Alliance, Atrangii TV and OTT, says that while there are good films being made now, people find it more comfortable to sit and watch content at home.

 

 

“Nowadays there are good family films being made. I mean, Bhool Bhulaiya can be called one. But there is a lot to watch on the web. I think people generally have become so lazy or, you know, they don’t want to spend that much money. And at home, I consume a lot of content on OTT. I don’t just watch a film, and for 500 rupee a month or so, I get so much to watch. I kind of choose to do that at home and I like to watch a lot of family films but like I said, I watch all languages,” she says.

She adds that the content available at home is also very good.

“So, if you ask me about Hindi content, TV comes up with a lot of good content. Apart from that, there are other platforms which are coming up with a lot of good content as well. Shows such as mismatched have become like my go-to shows, you and I always look forward to watching that. I think everyone has a lot of content to choose from,” she says.

She adds,

“At Atrangii, we do a lot of interesting things as well. I have like three slices of live shows coming up. You know, it kind of takes you back to your old days. It takes you back to your growing up stage. So it’s all relevant stuff. And I think it will resonate with a lot of audiences, especially with our reach.”
