Sadhwi Majumder on new show Sapnon Ki Chhalaang: I can find a lot of Sreemoyi in me

Actress Sadhwi Majumder, who plays the role of Sreemoyi in the show Sapnon Ki Chhalaang, says that she loves playing her character. The actress says that she relates a lot to her character as well as the show.

Instagram will load in the frontend.

“The show is all about how bigger the dream, the bigger the leap that we need to take in order to turn that dream into reality. Sreemoyi is a fun, witty and outgoing girl. She stands up for what she believes in and is not afraid to speak her mind. She is messy and a little delusional, but aren’t all creative people? She loves her clothes and accessories and is big on aesthetics and vibes.. for things and for people,” she says.

She adds,

“I can find a lot of Sreemoyi in me as I’m getting deeper into the character. I’m learning and unlearning so many things at the same time. I’m a 25-year-old staying in a rented house in Mumbai with other roommates. Sreemoyi is like my alter ego. I am a small town girl from a very ordinary middle class family with big aspirations who came to Mumbai six years ago. I am everything the show stands for. I aspire to use my craft to bring attention to issues that need to be talked about, try and make a difference.”

Ask her how she prepared for her role, and she says,

“I’m very selectively outgoing and social in my personal life. I don’t do parties or hardly get out of the house and I love my work. I had to strip all of that in order to get into the skin of Sreemoyee. I started being more outgoing on set in general and in my personal life. I have been working a lot on my Hindi, and just being proud and comfortable with who I am and where I’m from.”

Talking about working with Nilanjana Purkayasstha and Herumb Khot (Invictus T Mediaworks), she says,

“From the very first meeting I had with Nilanjana mam, I knew I loved that woman. She is classy, she is funny and she knows what she’s talking about. I met Herumb sir on set and he is the sweetest. Their vision, and their ‘let’s think outside the box’ attitude is inspiring. I also want to mention our director, Arif sir, without whom I’d have never been able to play Sreemoyi the way I am.”
