Additi Gupta on Her show Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii

“We all feel good about the love being showered on Dhadkan and want more and more people to watch our show. The subject is interesting and I am sure now that people want to have this kind of conversation over what’s happening with women at the workplace. Also, so many other things are there in the show. It’s very realistic and I am assuming people are enjoying it the most. Everyone in the show is performing so well, everyone’s character is growing. We have been working hard to make this a special experience for the viewers,” she says.

Looking back, the actor reminisces the days when she decided to work on the project.

“When I took up the project and got to know about my character, Deepika, I found her to be a very strong girl who had a difficult past. The way she overcomes and becomes a stronger individual was something that got me interested during the narration. Sometimes it happens that you write something and then it turns out to be something else, but it has happened with this show. Deepika is a real character. She also makes mistakes, learns from them. She is still a stronger individual and an interesting character to portray,” Additi Gupta adds.

The show highlights women’s empowerment and equality with men in terms of career choices.

“Irrespective of gender, we should push people to achieve their goals. We should not pull down anyone because of their gender. It’s time that we let everybody choose what they want to do,” Additi Gupta urges.

Ask if she missed doing a typical daily soap as in this one she is mostly seen in the doctor’s attire and there’s hardly any other costume, dress-up or naach gana or festive drama, and Additi says that on the contrary wearing the same thing means she can sit and chill anywhere in those blue scrubs.

“It’s much easier. But, definitely, I don’t miss those typical daily soaps because I love wearing jhumkas and sarees too. I don’t know how I would go back to doing daily soap. I am happy with what I am doing and scared as well because after this experience things will probably not be the same anymore,” she adds.

Additi shares a healthy bond with her co-actor from the show, Rohit Purohit.

“He is a very good actor. I have learned so much from him starting from day one and there is a comfort level. There are so many backstories with our characters that we had to be comfortable with each other as we were 10-year-old lovers according to the story. He has intense eyes and it’s easier to play along with him because you get into the groove,” Additi Gupta praises him.

And what about playing pranks on each other on the set?

“We really don’t do any such things as we are on the go all the time. But yes we do have a lot of fun together, both on and off-screen,” Additi Gupta signs off.
