Avinash Wadhawan in Jatin Sethi, Mahesh Pandey, and Piyush Gupta’s “Aggar Tum Na Hote”
Be it in films or TV, and now on the web, Avinash Wadhawan has been entertaining the audience for three decades. The actor, who was last seen in Piya Albela, is presently a part of the show Aggar Tum Na Hote. He plays the role of Gajendra Panday aka Gajju in the show.
So, what is the best thing about the entertainment industry?
“The best thing is that it entertains the audience. In this era, everyone is going through stress. The films, OTTs, and TV industry provide a lighter moment, an escape from all the issues they face. While the family watches shows together, people also watch their favorite films online, on TV, or on the web, some are also enjoying web series’. This industry is doing some kind of service to mankind. I feel privileged to be working in this industry for 30 years and my fans are still very much intact. They are the reason that I’ve been able to stick around. I’ve done many movies in Hindi and other languages during the ’90s as a lead. I shifted to TV much later and now I am doing a couple of web series and films too for OTT platforms,” he shares.
Avinash says that he is satisfied with how his career has been so far.
“I’m happy. I’ve seen a lot of ups and downs during my stints in both Bollywood and TV. Glad I’ve conquered my downs because of my willpower and the love of my fans. God has given me this life to entertain people, I feel grateful. Today when people want to see me, it’s like a morale booster for me to continue,” he adds.
Given that he has worked in Bollywood and TV, one wonders the kind of difference he must have felt between both the mediums. And, the actor begins by saying that they both provide entertainment but in a different way.
“Bollywood and watching a film on the big screen has its own charm. The TV industry, on the other hand, provides entertainment in the secured atmosphere of our homes. The best thing about TV is that it has many channels and people can watch their favorite content with their family. But TV and OTT are good in a way, big screens have many positives. I am sure that theatres are going to be there with the same intensity as it was earlier. See how Sooryavanshi has done after its theatrical release. People have again gone out of their houses to watch the movie,” he says.
Avinash often gets compliments for having retained his looks and personality. What is the secret?
“I try to remain as fit as possible. I started my career in my earlier 20’s and now I am in my 50’s. It’s been a long journey. I don’t do anything special. I go to my gym regularly but don’t overdo things. It is one of the reasons that I have been able to maintain my weight, though I have changed with age0. However, the motivation of looking younger is a must and that comes from the heart,” he shares.
