The recently unveiled first glimpse of Mahakali, being produced on a massive scale by RKD Studios, has been receiving appreciation from across the industry.
The latest to praise the ambitious mythological spectacle are actors Prabhas and Rishabh Shetty, who have lauded the glimpse, particularly Akshaye Khanna’s powerful portrayal of Shukracharya and Sriya Reddy’s striking appearance.
Taking to social media, Prabhas shared the glimpse and extended his best wishes to director Prasanth Varma and the entire team of Mahakali. Praising the performances, he wrote, “Congratulations to dear @prasanthvarmaofficial, and best wishes to the entire team of #Mahakali. Akshaye Khanna Ji and @sriya_reddy were absolutely terrific in the glimpse.”
Rishabh Shetty also joined the growing chorus of praise for the film. Sharing the glimpse on social media, the actor-filmmaker wrote, “Mahakali: Shukracharya’s War Cry echoes loud and powerful.” He also extended his best wishes to Prasanth Varma and the entire team behind the ambitious project.
Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of Shukracharya has emerged as one of the biggest highlights of the glimpse. Seen in a fierce and commanding avatar, the actor brings an intense screen presence and gravitas to the powerful guru of the Asuras. His striking transformation and the ominous tone surrounding the character have further amplified curiosity around the battle between Dharma and Adharma.
The glimpse also offers audiences an expansive first look into the ambitious visual world of Mahakali, with striking imagery, elaborate world-building and larger-than-life visuals setting the stage for an epic cinematic spectacle. Sriya Reddy also makes a powerful appearance, adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding narrative.
The appreciation from Prabhas and Rishabh Shetty further adds to the growing anticipation around the film, especially as Mahakali takes forward the larger vision of Prasanth Varma’s Cinematic Universe (PVCU). Following Hanu-Man, the filmmaker is set to expand the universe with a mythological spectacle that promises to take Indian storytelling and visual grandeur to an even larger scale.
Presented by RK Duggal and produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under the RKD Studios banner, Mahakali is directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru and stars Akshaye Khanna, Sriya Reddy, Bhoomi Shetty, Rohit Saraf and several other prominent actors. The film is slated to arrive in cinemas on January 8, 2027.
