As India celebrates Independence Day, actress Kriti Verma reflects on what patriotism means in today’s time.
For her, the occasion is not just about celebrating the country’s freedom, but also about recognising those who contribute to society through sincere and responsible work.
Speaking about public service, Kriti points to IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe as an example of someone who has consistently been associated with a strong work ethic and commitment to duty. She believes that officers who remain focused on their responsibilities can inspire citizens, particularly the younger generation.
“Tukaram Mundhe’s approach towards his work is something I genuinely admire. Whatever field we are in, doing our job with honesty, discipline and dedication is one of the biggest ways we can contribute to our country,” says Kriti.
According to the actress, Independence Day is an opportunity to look beyond celebrations and reflect on the meaning of freedom and the responsibilities that come with it. She feels that patriotism should be visible in everyday life — through honesty at work, respect for the law, compassion towards others and a willingness to contribute to society.
Kriti is also currently concentrating on her acting career, with her recent work adding to her journey as an artiste. She believes that every project brings new experiences and gives her an opportunity to grow creatively while connecting with audiences.
“Being independent and successful also means understanding your responsibility towards the people around you. We all have a role to play in building a better India,” she adds.
For Kriti, the spirit of Independence Day is ultimately about action rather than words. She believes that the country progresses when individuals across professions perform their responsibilities with sincerity.
“Independence Day reminds us that the nation belongs to all of us. We may have different professions and different journeys, but if we do our part honestly, we are contributing to the country in our own way,” Kriti concludes.
Her message this Independence Day is simple — celebrate the nation, value the freedom we have and, most importantly, do your duty with sincerity.
