Actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra has been arrested by the Mumbai police for allegedly publishing pornographic films via some apps. In a statement released by the Mumbai Police earlier this evening, they claimed to have ‘sufficient evidence’ against the UK-based businessman.

According to the Mumbai Police Kundra has been named a key conspirator in the case where. Kundra, invested in a UK-based company named Kendring. There was monetary dealing with Kundra and an accused named Umesh, who has now been arrested by the Mumbai Police. This was the second FIR registered by the Mumbai Police in this case. Previously in February 2021 the Mumbai police had filed an FIR against nine producers and some models, both male and female for allegedly making pornographic content and releasing it on the internet. These videos have been said to be published via subscription based apps.

However, this is not the first time that Kundra has courted controversy and was accused of involvment in illegal activities. Last year both the husband-wife duo, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra were named in an alleged scam involving their gold-trading company Satyug Gold Pvt Ltd. In June 2013, Kundra was questioned by Delhi Police with regard to the 2013 Indian Premier League spot-fixing case, which had involved the arrest of some Rajasthan Royals players. However, Kundra later got a clean chit from the Delhi Police, in this case. In July 2015 a panel appointed by the Supreme Court of India imposed a life ban from the cricket-related activity on him. Further, Kundra denied the involvement and appeal to the Supreme Court of India.

Umesh Goenka a business partner of Raj Kundra claimed in a court that he was forced to name him in betting by Delhi Police and to save himself from physical torture and from being booked under MCOCA Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.
