Kanika Dhillon Celebrate Game-Changing Step Towards Writers’ Credit

Industry people come forward in support of Kanika Dhillon and celebrate her game-changing step towards writers’ credit.

With the rise of OTT platforms and the influx of massive content, writing has become the ultimate king. The long-due credit of the writers is finally being acknowledged, and the force behind this game-changing narrative is the ace writer-author, Kanika Dhillon!

Kickstarting the positive trend, Kanika is making a lot of noise for getting the top billing with the trailer of Haseen Dillruba. Kanika is known for crafting some of the most progressive and fearless women characters on screen – from Rumi of Manmarziyan to Nanki of Guilty to Rani of Haseen Dillruba.

Kanika‘s accomplishment to get due credit in the trailer is a much-needed step and is being celebrated across the industry. With her voice, the writer has also paved the way for many more women writers.

Taking to Twitter, filmmaker Jay Mehta wrote, “Thank YOU. You’ve changed the game. Writers getting credited in trailers should have always been the case. Avoid engaging with fools who make such disgusting statements. It’s appalling that somebody from our fraternity would say this crap out loud.”

Calling out sexism, Kanika also slammed the writer Navjot Gulati for his misogynist remark. Coming in support of her ‘Haseen’ writer, Taapsee twitted, “A progressive call to credit a writer turned into a sexist rant by the age-old misogyny of crediting a woman’s success to the house she marries in or the man she married. Your righteous call for equal credit.”

In a similar vein, Akita Chohan said, “You do you, Kanika. What you have is first for any writer and is enviable indeed. As peers, we need to be inspired by your pursuit and broaden our visions, not sly-tweet our frustrations. In due time, we will all get our deserving due basis our focus on our individual crafts.”

Apart from them, Aniruddh Guha, Vivek Agnihotri, and Disha Rindani – to name a few came forward to congratulate Kanika and shut up sexism.
