COVID recovered patients have a special gift that they can donate their plasma to others fighting the virus. And they want to use this gift as much as she can.

Binaiferr said, “We have to wait for 14 days before I can donate my plasma. And as soon as it gets over we are going to do so. My daughter had organized a blood camp in the past and now she plans to have a plasma camp too on the set. So all of us who were tested positive will donate plasma. We will try and save as many lives as I can by doing so.”

Binaiferr said she was mentally prepared for the positive result and during her self-quarantine, she followed all the rules by the government and the doctors.

She said, “I was prepared to take care of everything mentally. My first reaction was ‘oh good, I will have antibodies now, and I will be able to combat it myself. I was in the home quarantine and I had good doctors with me. I followed all that they advised, I followed the government rules and everything that was explained to me very meticulously. I always wore a mask and self-quarantined myself away from everybody else. And just before me, my husband had tested positive for COVID and he was also in quarantine. And the minute he was diagnosed, we all were locked in our rooms separately and were in self-quarantine.”

“We followed all the rules about food and everything and we never met each other. I did not follow any home remedies. I was taking all the juices and hot soups. I followed all the rules from day one. I have researched COVID and can answer anything that a doctor can answer. And it’s not what comes on WhatsApp or Google, I read up all the researchers done on COVID so far,” she added.

She also thanked her neighbors and friends for sending them home-cooked food. She said, “It was always a buffet with a good spread daily as my neighbors and friends used to send food for us. Cooking was out of the question as we all were in quarantine, so I can’t thank them enough for doing this for us.”

Though she did not lose her sense of smell and taste, she felt extremely tired all the time. She said, “I had such extreme fatigue that I could not move from chair to the next. But I was doing all my work and it kept my mind away from all these things. And I had to look after the house, everyone there and Sanjay majorly.”

And how is she going to take care of herself now? “I am going to follow the same rules now, wearing masks, sanitizing, seeing that my mask is not dirty and worn properly, putting a shield on when around elders. I will be taking my vitamins, and juices and have hot drinks. There are always alternatives, you can choose. Like I am not fond of green vegetables so I put a cucumber in my orange juice and have it. Eat healthy food and avoid junk as much as you can. And most importantly, stay happy, stay safe and we all are in this together and we will come out victorious.”

Binaiferr also urged people to not take it lightly or have a carefree attitude as it may put them as well as others at risk.

“This carefree attitude that some people have is very wrong. It’s like drunk driving, you can kill yourself and others too. Somebody else, who may have old parents or small kids, at home because of you, so why would you put others at risk for some small things. You must follow all the rules given out by the government and the doctors,” she said.

“Everybody should be prepared, it can happen from anyone and anything. We all just need to maintain proper hygiene and proper care. And it was not just on the sets that we were taking precautions, even at home we were doing so. It’s like measles, where 12 people can contract from one. So we have separated plates and clothes for our children. It’s the same thing except that you are sanitizing more. So whatever the rules may be, you need to follow the rules strictly,” she added.
