Ranbir Kapoor Starrer Shamshera To Be Put On Hold?

Abhishek Chaubey’s Sonchiriya starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Manoj Bajpayee, Bhumi Pednekar, unfortunately, did not receive much appreciation. This has put a stop to Yash Raj’s upcoming film Shamshera starring Ranbir Kapoor into speculation.

According to sources, Aditya Chopra is in a dilemma about the release of Shamshera starring Ranbir Kapoor. It is because of the backlash that Sonchiriya has faced.

One of the main problems is if it would be commercially viable.

“Do audiences want to see dacoit dramas of the hard-core commercial kind like Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Kachche Dhaage and Heera or the rawer and real kind like Mujhe Jeene Do, Bandit Queen and Sonchiriya? Shamshera falls between the two extremes. And although Adi (producer Aditya Chopra) has full faith in his director Karan Malhotra and actor Ranbir Kapoor, there is a constant pressure to ensure box office success. After Sonchiriya, Shamshera is being re-examined.”
