Depiction Of Love On Screen Could Be More Realistic: Binaifer Kohli

Unrealistic sequences of a hero falling head-over-heels in love with a heroine instantly seem to be passé now. Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hai producer Binaifer Kohli says that romance on television needs to be made more realistic for the viewers to be able to connect. “It’s portrayed quite nicely on screen, however, I feel that romantic sequences need to be made more realistic. The viewers will only relate to something that they are associate with. While fairytale romances work well at times, television is one medium where they might not work every time,” she says.

As she celebrates Valentine’s Day today, the producer says that while the day is important to her, she feels that love needs to be celebrated daily. She says,

I celebrate Valentine’s Day everyday with a lot of affection, love and care. However, I have no problem with people who want to celebrate this day. There is no harm in celebrating love and so I have never felt that days like Valentine’s Day are overrated.

Ask her who her favourite on screen couple is, and she says,

“I think on-screen Angoori and Tiwari Ji’s jodi is the best on television. And in Bollywood, I like Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. I liked Bajirao Mastani very much, their chemistry in that was amazing.”
