Veteran filmmaker JP Dutta who has made movies like Border is all set to give cinema lover another war drama. He is currently shooting for his next project, Paltan.
Border achieved several milestones and was even screened to celebrate India’s 70th Independence Day. Now, the director-producer is hoping to present the audiences with Paltan – based on the Indo-China war of 1962.
JP Dutta was invited by Chief of the Indian Army Staff, Lt. General Bipin Rawat, to commemorate the Army Day in the Capital. In India, January 15 is observed as Army Day.
When asked about it, JP Dutta says,
“The armed forces have lived because of their defining work. What they have done for their country cannot be put into words. Protecting a country like India, which is not a conqueror, but a liberator; a democracy where every religion is accommodated, is not easy. If there was no armed force, no Army, there would be no India. Making movies for those who take bullets in their chest for us, is the least we can do.”
Actor Sonu Sood, who is part of the film said,
“I just want to salute all the real heroes of the nation on the Indian Army Day. I think because of them we are safe today. There can’t be one Army Day because they work hard for us every day, leaving their families and staying at borders. The army spends 365 days without their families, protecting our nation. That makes them the true heroes; a big salute to all of them. Every army guy is my hero and we from the team of Paltan wish them to stay blessed, happy and safe.”

Dutta recently completed a month-long shooting schedule of Paltan in Ladakh. Two songs were also canned there. The unit will now begin filming the soldiers’ backstories in Chandigarh. Reportedly, 95 percent of the movie has already been filmed.
