Anupam Kher dethrones Gajendra Chauhan as FTII chairman

Former Mahabharata actor (Pandava king Yudhishthira), Gajendra Chauhan gained a lot of criticism last year when he was appointed the chairman of The Film and Television Institute of India, more popularly known as FTII, Pune.

Gajendra apparently questioned who are Anupam Kher and Rishi Kapoor, which led to a cold war between the actors and the former FTII chairman.

Anupam Kher had mentioned,

“I personally feel that the FTII represents a certain art form. It does certainly need a person who has a great body of work, which means he is supposed to know world cinema as well as the present state of cinema, like editing. But certainly FTII needs somebody who is much more qualified than whatever Ganjendraji’s qualifications are coming across. I certainly do not think Gajendraji is qualified as a producer, director or actor.”

But as the saying goes, tables do turn around. Anupam Kher has been appointed as the new chairman of FTII.

Some time back, Pahlaj Nihalani was too was replaced as the CBFC chief by another well-loved Bollywood personality, Prasoon Joshi.
