Everyone who follows B-town gossip knows that Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma are not the best of friends. After Anushka and Ranveer Singh were rumored to have dated, Ranveer moved on to Deepika Padukone, whom he’s been in a relationship with ever since. More than that, the two have exchanged passive aggressive jibes in the media, with the king of gossip himself Karan Johar jokingly telling Deepika on his chat show Koffee with Karan that she’s “living in a bubble” if she thinks Anushka considers her a friend.
Still, the two have managed to maintain a cordial relationship in public. So it came as a surprise to many when, at the recent Vogue Women of the Year Awards, Anushka danced around a journo’s question of whether or not she liked the first look poster of Deepika’s upcoming film, Padmavati. Anushka claimed to have not seen the poster because of poor network connectivity, but fans quickly noticed that she had been posting on her personal Instagram page the day the poster was released.
This outraged Deepika fans, who took to social media to scold Anushka for her evasive answer. But ardent fans frequently overreact in situations like this, so what makes this particular incident noteworthy? It seems that Deepika’s personal stylist and good friend, Shaleena Nathani, agrees with them!
As seen in the screenshot posted below, Shaleena “liked” a long rant posted on the Instagram account of a Deepika fan page, which accused Anushka of lying about not having seen the poster because of her supposed jealousy toward Deepika.
It appears the strongly-worded caption under the Instagram post struck a chord with Deepika’s friend Shaleena!
What’s even more interesting is that Shaleena has also styled Anushka on several occasions, as recently as April of this year. While we’re not sure what their personal relationship is like, their equation might be a bit more sour after this incident!
