Speaking at a recent event, Kriti reflected on navigating the industry without a godfather and shared what kept her going through the years.”I think when I moved to Mumbai, I moved with an intention of trying for films and becoming an actor. There are so many amazing examples, Shah Rukh Khan being one who’s never had a godfather. It’s not like it’s not possible. I felt like it’s not possible because I saw these amazing examples of people who’ve done it. But I knew that it’s not going to be an easy journey. What is very important is for you to not give up and consistently keep improving yourself.”
The National Award winning actress also spoke about constantly learning and evolving as an artiste.”I’m an engineer who went for modeling and then went for acting. Acting was something that I felt I had it in me, but I knew that I needed to learn. I’m a learner. I’ve always been. Everything I’ve learned has been on the job. I’ve tried to grow and be curious, ask questions, find my answers, and do better in the next film than I’ve done in the previous one.”
Kriti also acknowledged the filmmakers who believed in her journey.”I’ve been fortunate and blessed to have met a few people in this journey who did believe in me. Sajid Sir and Sabbir Sir gave me my first film. Sukumar sir and Mahesh Babu were my first experience in front of a movie camera. Dinesh Vijan has been one of my biggest supporters and believers. I think he believed in my potential a lot more than sometimes what even I did. I’ve always gotten opportunities from Maddock which have been so twisted, so different and so challenging. I think when you challenge yourself again and again and try to do something different, it’s a way of growing and moving ahead in life.”
