Actress Rose Sardana, known for her work in ‘Drishyam 2’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, is set to appear in a new film ‘IIZ: Indian Institute of Zombies’ that releases in theaters on May 15, 2026. Sardana plays the character of Kiran, who she describes as “very witty and expressive, and at the same time cracks weird jokes, and hardly gets scared.”

The film is Kuku production’s first theatrical release, and follows the story of a friend group in college dealing with a group of zombies, while navigating academic pressures and heartbreak. Jesse Lever plays Bheem, Kiran’s love interest, who Sardana says gets overpowered easily by Kiran.

In order to get into the character, Sardana took on fashion choices unlike her own, including a new hairstyle with colorful hair.

“I think I chose Kiran because somewhere I resonate with here, while also places where I don’t resonate with her. Kiran is a backbencher, and so was I, but there are several places I’m not like Kiran.”

For Sardana, one of the main reasons she chose the project was the fact that the film is a comedy-genre film and gives Sardana room to bring comedy to her character as well.

“I really wanted to explore this genre all together. The first time I saw the script, I was like oh my god, I really want to play this girl. I think I can own this character.”

The film is one of the first Indian horror-comedy films to utilize AI as part of the special effects, and Sardana shares her experience with the AI technology.

“The team is using both VFX and AI … Kuku does specifically mention that they are going to use AI throughout the film, and shared that with us when we were on set.”

Even though horror might not be everyone’s cup of tea, Sardana says that an audience who might not be inclined to watch a horror film should still watch this one in theaters.

“It’s not totally a horror film, this is about fun, friends, and it won’t make you bored at the end.”
