Actor Jung Hae-in has achieved a remarkable milestone, securing two prestigious awards at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards. Recognized for his outstanding performance in Veteran 2, directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, Jung took home the Cheongjeongwon Popular Star Award and Best Supporting Actor Award, solidifying his status as one of Korea’s most prominent actors.

The awards ceremony, held on November 29, celebrates the best in Korean cinema, with the Blue Dragon Film Awards boasting a history dating back to 1963. This marks Jung Hae-in’s first win at the event, adding an emotional significance to his accolades.

Upon receiving the Popular Star Award, Jung expressed heartfelt gratitude to his fans, saying:
“I am happier than with any other award, and I am deeply moved. I want to dedicate this award to the fans who supported me tirelessly. I consider this a popularity award for Veteran 2 and will continue to work hard.”

Later, accepting the Best Supporting Actor Award, Jung reflected on the challenges of filming and acknowledged the contributions of his colleagues:
“There were many intense and difficult moments on set, but I persevered thanks to senior Hwang Jung-min’s guidance. I sincerely thank director Ryoo Seung-wan for giving me the opportunity to portray Park Sun-woo and the dedicated staff who worked alongside me.”

He also noted the symbolic significance of the Year of the Dragon:
“Being born in the Year of the Dragon and winning at the Blue Dragon Film Awards feels like incredible fortune. I will continue to strive so I can celebrate similar moments in the next Year of the Dragon.”

Veteran 2: A Career-Defining Performance

Released in September, Veteran 2 is an action-packed crime drama that follows the youngest detective, Park Sun-woo (Jung Hae-in), as he joins forces with veteran investigator Seo Do-cheol (Hwang Jung-min) to track a dangerous serial killer. Jung’s portrayal of Park Sun-woo, a character with a chillingly sinister edge hidden behind a charming demeanor, earned widespread acclaim. It marked his first foray into villainous roles, showcasing his versatility as an actor.

Earlier this year, Jung was also honored as the “2024 Audience-Chosen Actor of the Year” at the 29th Consumers’ Day Culture and Entertainment Awards. His recognition at the Blue Dragon Film Awards further underscores his growing influence in the industry.
