Pakistani and London based Asim Abbassi’s upcoming release ‘Barzakh’ is set to stream worldwide on Zee5 Global. The show stars Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed in lead roles, with a supporting ensemble cast. We spoke with Abassi about how he created the script for the show, as well as his decision behind bringing back the iconic pairing of Khan and Saeed after ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’.
Abassi’s debut film, titled ‘Cake’ won several awards at international film festivals, and was hailed as a pathbreaking piece of work. His subsequent directorial ‘Churails’ focused on misogyny and the patriarchy. ‘Barzakh’ follows the story of a man about to get married, but he doesn’t know if he’s married a ghost or not.
The show will premiere on ZEE5 Global on July 19th.
