Singer and musician Vasu Kainth his journey from Youtube to his first EP

Singer Vasu Kainth shares how he started creating and producing music, which has now led to him releasing his first EP ‘Silsile’ produced by T-Series, consisting of four different singles.

Kainth first started off in the entertainment space when he opened his own Youtube channel to post covers of popular songs at the beginning of COVID. He was already trained in Indian classical music, so he decided to try and follow his dreams.

“When I started Youtube, I just used to post music – my renditions of different songs. My growth happened when I started to post original songs. People used to really like it, and a lot of gamers started supporting me.”

Contrary to popular opinion, Kainth shares that he thinks it’s beneficial sometimes to be an independent artist, and not be tied to a production home for every release, because he explains that “there’s no one to stop you”.

“When you’re independent, you’re your own boss, you’re the one who judges, and I think independent artists have the full potential to make what they like.”

Before the creation and release of his EP, Kainth shares that the idea of an EP was never there until it actually came to fruition.

“There’s a song called ‘Na Jaane De’, I wrote that last year. I got inspired by a friend of mine – the song is about one-sided love. One of my friend’s was head over toes in love with a girl, and he was not confessing. So I wrote a song looking at him, and based on his experience.”

Kainth went on to share that every single in the EP was written during different circumstances and experiences, including the song ‘Dobara’ which was inspired in the airport when Kainth was watching the cult film ‘Jab We Met’!

“Dobara is a story: a guy is telling a girl that he’s falling in love with her again and again. In the film, Shahid Kapoor’s character is falling in love with Kareena Kapoor’s character again and again through the songs in the movies, and eventually in the end, they fall in love again.”

For Kainth, he shares that writing and making music is an escape, and that helped him write each single for the EP.
