Actor and producer Harman Baweja walked the red carpet at the New York Indian Film Festival this past weekend, and spoke with us about his participation as a producer and writer for the Sanya Malhotra film ‘Mrs’.

The film delves into the story of Malhotra’s character, who is trying to find her own independence after marriage, and follows her journey as a newly married woman.
Baweja shares what really drew him to the story, and why he wanted to produce it.
“I write a lot of scripts myself … so for me the honest kick of even being a producer is so I can kind of be involved in the writing process. So that’s the fun part of it for me is to kind of pick those stories which are thematically very strong.”
Baweja went on to explain that he always has to figure out the why behind wanting to be a part of the film.
“Am I really putting something out there? You know, sometimes it’s very subliminal. It doesn’t have to be in your face. So, that’s very important to thematically connect with the core theme of the script.”
‘Mrs’ earned Sanya Malhotra the Best Actress award at the film festival this year with a sold out screening.
