Exciting news for music lovers! KINO has just released his debut EP, “If this is love, I want a refund.” This EP dives deep into the rollercoaster of emotions that define the different stages of love, from the fiery rage of a breakup to the sweet bliss of new love. KINO captures these feelings through two contrasting visual themes: a dreamy, ideal love and a raw, realistic love born from broken illusions.
In KINO’s own words,
“‘If this is love, I want a refund’ is my first ever EP, and it represents the full cycle of a relationship. It’s a collection of songs that reveal genuine feelings about love: the good, the bad, the ugly. Love is not always as nice as it’s been portrayed, nor are our feelings towards it. It’s a story about me, you, and us all: The diary of us.”
The EP includes five tracks, each one co-written and composed by KINO himself. The title track, “Broke My Heart,” channels the anger and betrayal one feels when deceived by a loved one. Featuring American artist Lay Bankz, who is renowned for her viral TikTok hits like “Tell Ur Girlfriend,” “Left Cheek (Doo Doo Blick),” “Na Na Na,” and “Ick,” this collaboration brought a spontaneous energy to their music video shoot in Philadelphia, where they even created the chorus choreography on the spot.
The track “Solo” narrates the amicable end of a relationship, where both partners accept their differences and part ways with mutual respect. “Freaky Love,” which dropped as a single on March 21st, captures the intense infatuation that comes with new love, inspired by the popular “delulu” trend on social media. With “Valentine,” KINO aims to inspire listeners to persevere in love even when the going gets tough. The final track, “Fashion Style,” pre-released on January 8th, encourages listeners to embrace their unique beauty and authenticity.
