Anjali Arora, a vibrant personality who gained recognition through her time on Lock Upp, recently shared her deep sadness over the unexpected passing of her co-participant and close friend, Poonam Pandey. But it turned out that Poonam was faking her death for a campaign regarding cervical cancer awareness.

This made many of her friends upset and angry, Anjali Arora shared her views on this whole scenario.
Sharing about her initial reaction when she learned about Poonam faking her death to raise awareness about cervical cancer, Anjali says,
“I discovered this the evening before it was revealed that it’s untrue, but I doubted that someone could genuinely fake their death. I had suspicions that it was a publicity stunt, and I was shocked and hurt by this revelation. Even if it was for a good cause, the method used was inappropriate.”
Discussing any signs or hints that made her suspicious about the situation, or did it come as a complete surprise, she says,
“I sensed something was a miss from the start because the news was posted from her own Instagram handle. Just two days before, she appeared healthy and was actively shooting; she didn’t resemble a cancer patient. When someone succumbs to a disease, there’s a process with symptoms. I harboured doubts that it was a publicity stunt.”
Speaking about if she thinks Poonam effectively communicated her intentions and goals with this unconventional approach to raising awareness,
“The way of doing this could have been better. Faking one’s death is highly inappropriate; there are many other ways to raise awareness about this issue. Instead of becoming aware, people are criticizing her because it was not the right way to go about it.”
