‘Barely Breathing’ actor and writer Neal Reddy breaks down the meaning behind the story

The short film ‘Barely Breathing’ highlights a young man’s struggle with his mental health in the wake of his mother’s death and drastic changes in his life. Neal Reddy plays the lead role in the film, and wrote the script as well, basing it off his own personal experiences. 

Reddy spoke with us about the prep process behind creating the story of ‘Barely Breathing’, and how he came up with the script. 

The latter half of the film portrays a long monologue speech from Reddy’s character as he’s standing at the grave of his mother, and Reddy spoke about how difficult it was for him to film that scene. 

‘Barely Breathing’ is just the beginning for Reddy, as he hopes to embark on more such short films in the future.
