Indian legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has passed away at the age of 92, due to multi-organ failure from COVID-19 complications. The veteran singer was hospitalized at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital after she tested positive for COVID-19 in early January.
Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last at the hospital where she was admitted to the ICU for over three weeks. The veteran singer also battled pneumonia along with the deadly virus. According to a Times of India report, Lata Mangeshkar passed at 8:12 AM on February 6th, 2021. The singer’s family will let friends and fans pay homage at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park.
The Indian singing icon sang nearly 50,000 songs in over 20 languages in the span of her 70 year career. A two-day national mourning period is to be observed in her memory, and the Indian national flag will fly at half-mast for two days.
