In Conversation With Priyanka Dhavale
In this interview I got into an exclusive conversation with actress Priyanka Dhavale who currently stars on Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali discussing her journey so far, her future professional plans and lots more.
What inspired you to become an actor?
During my childhood days, I was always into extracurricular activities and I knew that I enjoyed dancing, giving expressions and I’d always stand in front of the mirror and dance to some Bollywood song. I was very fond of Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor and it was through the performances of these actresses which inspired me to become an actress. Essentially dancing inspired me to become an actress.
How did you feel when you bagged the role of Amruta in Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali, did you tell your family or was it a surprise?
I was very excited when I bagged the role of Amruta Deshmukh as it was a grey character giving me various opportunities to showcase different emotions. When I bagged the role, the first person I told was my mother and she was extremely happy. As for my dad, I didn’t reveal it to him until two to three days after which he was surprised, asking me “really?” followed by positive affirmations.
What are your dynamics like with your co-stars?
The dynamics I share with the cast of Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali is amazing. Shivangi is like an older sister to me, she and everyone treats me like a baby since I’m the youngest amongst the set of actors. We have so much fun that sometimes we will do Garba and we’ll get scolded for making noise.
Besides MHRW, what kind of roles would you like to play in the future and is there any particular genre that you are interested in?
Besides MHRW, I would like to play a role of a sportsperson or a tomboyish role, essentially anything that is raw and challenging. I am also open to doing roles in other regional languages/platforms.
Putting work aside, tell us about your favourite hobbies. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
My favourite hobby is either singing or dancing, as I feel it polishes my overall performance as an actor. So when myself and everyone are done shooting, we typically have a jamming session post-pack up. I also love watching Netflix web series.
Tell us one fun and/or random fact about yourself?
The fun or random fact about myself would be that I’m always questioning things to the point that my co-stars have considered naming me “question mark”.
What motivates you in times when you’re feeling low?
The one thing which motivates me whenever I’m low is a piece of advice that my mother has always given me. My mother had always told me that I should acknowledge the talent and capabilities I possess and have faith in myself. She also adds that everything in life happens for the greater good so I need to take whatever comes my way with dignity and pride. Most importantly I should have faith in God. These pieces of advice always make me feel better on my low days.
Any final messages for your fans?
Thank you so much for your love and support and it’s only because of you fans that I am motivated to work harder and wake up with a great feeling every day. Keep loving and supporting. Thanks.
