The world is in a frenzy because of the Coronavirus outbreak. On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) as a pandemic. With over 1,26,000 cases confirmed and more than 4,600 dead, fear for the virus is on an all-time high. India has seen around 60 confirmed cases till March 11. In lieu of the same, Bollywood films like Sooryavanshi and others are likely to be postponed.
Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, is all set to release on March 24. But as per latest reports and buzz in the circuits, Akshay Kumar, Rohit Shetty, Shibashish Sarkar (Reliance Entertainment) and Karan Johar (Dharma Productions) have been holding meetings in regards to postponing the film’s release.
The news is that Sooryavanshi, in all likelihood, will be postponed to next month. A source told an online portal,
“Though the exact date is not confirmed yet, the announcement of the delay and the new release date is expected to be done on the coming weekend.”
This seems like the correct decision for now. Added the source,
“The postponing of Sooryavanshi’s release seems like a wise decision now since footfalls to the theatres seem to be falling at many places both in India and overseas. The Coronavirus threat is real and people don’t want to take any chances.”
Let’s wait for an official announcement regarding the confirmation of the news as well as details of the new release date of Sooryavanshi.
