Richa Chadha is now all set to play a politician in Subhash Kapoor’s political drama Madam Chief Minister.
Earlier titled Madam G, the project is produced by Naren Kumar, Dimple Kharbanda, and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series Films. The character is loosely based on the life of former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati.
Subhash, will also be directing the ambitious biopic of T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar. According to a report in a daily, since Aamir Khan – who will play the music baron in the biopic – is currently busy with Lal Singh Chadha, Kapoor discussed the idea of Madam Chief Minister with Bhushan and collaborated for the film.
“While working as a political journalist, I came through several incidents which has led me to write this story. I am happy that Bhushanji came ahead and decided to support this film. It was during one of the discussions for Gulshanji’s biopic when I spoke about the film with him and that’s where the association on the film began.”
Speaking about the film, Bhushan told a publication,
“Subhash has incorporated many incidents and anecdotes he had seen and experienced as a political journalist into the narrative.”
Talking about her part Richa Chadha says,
“Happy to announce that our labour of love ‘Madam Chief Minister’ has been announced. My toughest part yet, I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with particularly witty Subhash Sir and with the splendid cast Manav, Akshay Oberoi, and Saurabh Shukla.”
The actress shot in Lucknow all through November and December in a start to finish 40-day schedule. Subhash, who was a journalist, has created an anecdotal political drama and owing to his prior experience in the field it was a crackling script that immediately drew Richa in. He had been working on the script for many years. Richa was an obvious choice given that she is amongst the few well-articulated, politically and socially aware actresses of our time.
