Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: Movies That Celebrate His Life And Teaching

Subhas Chandra Bose, who is fondly called Netaji, was one of the core fighters in India’s Independence struggle. He was even placed under house arrest by the British. Netaji easily outsmarted them and went to Germany. He revamped the Indian National Army aka the Azad Hind Fauj.

There are numerous books written on Netaji’s life & what he did for the country. Unfortunately, not everyone loves reading but almost everyone wants to know about his great work and contribution. So many filmmakers have now made movies & documentaries on his life.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero

This movie directed by veteran director Shyam Benegal. Bose’ role was enacted by Sachin Khedekar. The movie also featured actors like Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rajit Kapur, Arif Zakaria, & Divya Dutta to mention a few. The film received wide critical acclaim at the BFI London Film Festival and has garnered the National Film Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration, and the National Film Award for Best Production Design for the year 2004.

Ami Subhas Bolchi

This movie directed by the very talented Mahesh Manjrekar is the story of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose who comes into the life of struggling Debabrata (portrayed by Mithun Chakraborty and through him, Netaji helps to awaken the Bengalis from “sleep” and act like a superhero.

Bose: Dead/Alive

Rajkummar Rao portrayed the role of Subhas Chandra Bose in this ALTBalaji series which gained critical acclaim at IVM. It is based on the book India’s Biggest Cover-up by activist Anuj Dhar.

The Forgotten Army

The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye is an upcoming mini web television series that features Sunny Kaushal and Sharvari. This Kabir Khan directorial will release of Amazon Prime Video on January 24, 2020. The series is based on true events about the men and women in the Indian National Army (INA) led by Subhash Chandra Bose. Agreed this series isn’t completely based on Netaji but it incorporates his ideas to the core
