Ranveer Singh is all set to wow us time and time again in 2020. After Kabir Khan’s ’83, Singh will also be seen in Divyang Thakkar’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar. This YRF entertainer talks about an important social message
Now here’s a new addition to the cast. Veteran actor Ratna Pathak Shah will be seen playing the role of Ranveer Singh’s mother in actor-turned-director Divyang Thakkar’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar. Confirming this development, producer of Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Maneesh Sharma says
“Ratna Pathak ji is an invaluable addition to this eclectic cast of Jayeshbhai Jordaar. In one of those quirky twists of fate that make life so interesting, Ratna ji is going to be directed by Divyang Thakkar – whom she mentored in theatre. Ratna ji plays Ranveer’s mother in Jayeshbhai and her scenes with Ranveer form some of the most powerful scenes of the film.”
Ratna reveals that she was bowled over by the script of Jayeshbhai Jordaar! She says,
“Some months ago a young actor (Divyang) came to me with a script. Now, actors making movies can be tricky so I was a bit cautious as I began reading but was charmed and moved and thoroughly entertained by the end. It had ‘message’ but more important, it had heart too. A clever story, smartly told, that has interesting characters is rare to find and when topped with an kick-ass cast, is quite an irresistible combination! Besides, it is talking about issues close to my heart but I wouldn’t have thought they could be addressed like this. Add to that the fun of playing a woman who has completely internalized patriarchy!!
Interestingly, Divyang is Ratna’s protégé during his theatre days and now he will be directing her in the film.
When Ranveer was asked about working with Divyang, he had said,
“I’m glad that today I find myself in a position where I can recognise exceptional talent and wholeheartedly back the vision of a brilliant new writer-director like Divyang. Jayeshbhai Jordaar will be my next release after ’83.”
Directed by debutant writer-director Divyang Thakkar, Jayeshbhai Jordaar is a humourous entertainer set in Gujarat. Ranveer will be seen playing the role of a Gujarati man. The film is produced by Maneesh Sharma under Aditya Chopra’s home banner Yash Raj Films.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh will soon be seen as ace skipper Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s 83. Besides this, Ranveer will also feature in Karan Johar’s magnum opus, Takht.
