Jersey: Shahid Kapoor & Pankaj Kapur To Reunite After Four Years

Shahid Kapoor is all set to impress fans with Jersey.

We recently reported that Mrunal Thakur will play Shahid Kapoor’s love interest in Gowtam Tinnanauri’s Hindi remake of his Telugu sports drama Jersey. You can read about it here.

Now another addition to the Jersey cast is Pankaj Kapur. He will play a pivotal role in Allu Aravind, Aman Gill and Dil Raju’s production.

According to a source close to the development, the veteran actor-filmmaker will play a mentor to Shahid’s character and will be a strong pillar of support to him.

During a media interview, Pankaj Kapur admitted that he is excited to be a part of the film. He said,

“Jersey is a strong story-driven by emotions. Working with Shahid has always been interesting. I admire his ability to portray emotions beautifully.”

In an interview with a leading daily the director added,

“Pankaj sir is such a great actor. We have all grown up watching his work. To be able to direct him is a great honor and I know that he fits the role of a mentor perfectly.”

The film is set in and around the Union Territory during the mid-’90s and will kick off in one of the cricket stadiums there. The team will be shooting at real locations, including a row house in the heart of the city, which will be Shahid’s home in the film.
