Eve Ensler was sexually and physically abused from the age of 5 by her father and struggled and suffered her whole life from this betrayal. She longed for an honest reckoning from the man who is now long dead. After years she decided she was no longer waiting for it – an apology could be imagined, by her, for her, to her.

The Apology by Eve is from her father’s point of view and has the words she longed to hear from him. These words were an attempt to transform the abuse she suffered, with unflinching truthfulness, compassion, and an expansive vision for the future.

The Apology is a remarkably book that explores the deepest and intimate questions : Why do men carry out abuse against the people they know and love? How can we stop it? What does it mean to apologize for these acts? And much more.

The book launch and reading were attended by renowned journalist Faye D’Souza, Bollywood actor Rahul Bose and Nandita Shah co-director of Akshara Centre.

Rahul read passages from the book with such emotions and conviction that it made all engrossed in the reading. Faye lead the book discussion where she and the author Eve Ensler spoke at length about the topic of rape and injustic towards women in the homes, workplaces and everywhere else.
