Deepika Padukone To Get Co-Producer Credit In Karan Johar's Next

It’s indeed a good day in Bollywood today. During the trailer launch of Dharma Production’s latest film, Good Newwz, Karan Johar emphasised that the production house believed in complete pay parity between men and women. He also revealed that soon a leading Bollywood actress was to get a co-producer title in one the banner’s upcoming projects. And now we got to know this leading lady is none other than Deepika Padukone.

As we already know, Deepika is soon going to be a part of director Shakun Batra’s new film. This project is supposedly a romantic film, but not a regular one. At this year’s Jio MAMI Movie Mela, the Piku actress shed a little light on her new project saying,

“I have found a film that I am likely to do early next year but it’s not light. It’s still a messy romance, it’s quite dark but still in the romantic space.”

As per the reports on a portal, we have now learnt that Deepika Padukone and Karan Johar had a discussion after which the former came on board as a co-producer too.

The report further states that Gully Boy fame Siddhant Chaturvedi has been paired opposite Deepika. This project is expected to go on floors around February 2020.

For those who do not know, this won’t be the first film that will be rolled out under Deepika Padukone’s banner. The actress will be making her debut as a producer with her upcoming film Chhapaak. This film is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and co-stars Vikrant Massey. She is also the producer of Kabir Khan’s ’83 that features her as real-life hubby, Ranveer Singh’s on-screen wife.

From getting pay at par their male co-stars to now getting co-producer credits, and some also receiving a profit share revenue from films – the scenarios is Bollywood is taking a turn for the better.
