The cast and crew of Gully Boy are super excited with the news regarding the film going to Oscars 2020.

Director-Producer Zoya Aktar said:

“This has been a great year and I am so overwhelmed with the response our work is getting. I am thrilled and very grateful that Gully Boy has been picked as India’s official entry for the Oscars. It’s crazy to receive such news days after Lust Stories received a nomination for the Emmys.”

The main lead, Ranveer Singh took to social media thanking all. He wrote:

Alia Bhatt released a statement saying:

Gully Boy as a film is really special to me. What’s even more special is that it has had such a long run – after releasing in February, it won at the Melbourne Film Festival, then it was also shown in Japan. Now, it’s been selected as India’s official entry for the Academy. So, hereon, I just hope, pray and wish that we make it to the nomination and then win. This is a first and it’s a big deal for us. As a team, we are very excited.

Kalki Koechlin said:

“I am really happy that the film got nominated and it is a good entry to the Oscars. I think Gully Boy is a great representation of India’s new dawn – one  where we increasingly stand united by hope and pave the way for real, social change. The Indian Rap scene has considerably helped in pivoting this ‘change’ conversation favorably, and  movies like Gully Boy are a testament to that fact and to the international audience that good Indian cinema now attracts.”

Siddhant Chaturvedi, who debuted in Bollywood with Gully Boy as MC Sher said:

“I am super-excited. My first web show Inside Edge got nominated at the Emmys last year and now my first film is going to the Oscars!! It’s a special moment! It is all about Zoya (Akhtar) ma’am’s genius, Ranveer Singh’s uplifting bromance, and (producers) Ritesh Sidhwani and (Farhan Akhtar) sir’s mentorship! Credit goes to the whole crew.”

We too are happy about the film’s achievement. Here’s hoping for the best film to win at the Oscars 2020.

Gully Boy is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar under the banners of Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment productions
