Veteran actor Viju Khote – who played the iconic roles of Kalia in Sholay and Robert in Andaz Apna Apna – is no more. The actor who has appeared in over 300 Hindi and Marathi films passed away at the age of 77 in Mumbai.
At the moment, the cause of death is unknown.

Khote’s niece and actor Bhavana Balsavar said:
“He passed away today at 6.55 am peacefully in his sleep at the residence.”
She added that he had been unwell for some time saying:
“He did not wish to die in the hospital so we had brought him home few days ago.”
She also said:
“It is a great loss for all of us.”
Viju Khote‘s last rites will be performed at Chandan Wadi in Thane around 11 am.
The veteran actor mouthed some of the most famous lines in the films her starred. In Sholay, he was famous as the dacoit Kalia and voiced the dialogue, ‘Sardar maine aapka namak khaya hai’. In Andaz Apna Apna he made the dialogue ‘galti se mistake hogay’ famous.
He has also featured in other popular films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Ventilator, Golmaal 3, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge and more.
Viju Khote is the son of acclaimed stage artist Nandu Khote and brother of actress Shubha Khote by 5 years.
