#MonsterWorld Concert June 1 At Garden Square In Downtown Brampton

#MonsterWorld Concert on June 1 at Garden Square in downtown Brampton will feature a diverse setlist of world music artists and an assortment of dance performers all for FREE! The impressive line-up at the free festival on June 2 will be hosted by Randy Persaud and will feature headliner Parichay, an Indo-Canadian Bollywood Music Composer who has worked with Bollywood stars like Sonakshi Sinha and globally renowned artists like Sean Kingston. Dance acts by Flower City Bhangra will be lighting up the stage with their fire moves. RAAG Canada, a GTA based Bollywood band, will also be playing hit Bollywood numbers and fusions that audiences are sure to love. The lineup also includes Ankita, a Toronto-based singer; Staasia Daniels, an R&B singer/songwriter from Toronto who has headlined at Drake Underground; The Band Destiny, a West Indian Crossover music band; Waris Virse De, a vibrant Bhangra group.

“#MonsterWorld Mashup is a different kind of festival, and that’s what we aspire to do at the Monster Creative Collective: bring never-before-seen sets and entertainment to audiences in the GTA,” says Artistic Director of MonstrARTity, Vikas Kohli. “These artists are not only extremely talented, but they also represent the new faces of Brampton and the GTA. We are excited to carve out a space for world music festivals in Brampton by featuring diverse performers like Parichay, The Destiny Band and Flower City Bhangra.”

The two-day festival will kick off with the #MonsterWorld Launch Party & Comedy on May 31 at the Chinguacousy Ski Chalet that will have you laughing and dancing the night away. Hosted by Amish Patel and featuring Headliner Nick Reynoldson of Just for Laughs fame, #MonsterWorld Launch Party & Comedy will also showcase side-splitting comedy acts by Vandad Kardar, Edworld Kim, Harpreet Sehmbi, Johnny Batta, and Brandon Ash-Mohammed. Parichay is an Indo-Canadian Bollywood Music Composer, Producer & Singer/Songwriter. With 3 studio albums under his belt, his biggest break came in 2016 when he became the first ever non-resident Indian to do 4 out of 5 songs in a mainstream Bollywood film for production powerhouse, Tips including the mega-hit Bollywood track ‘Peene Ki Tamanna’.

In addition to collaborating with some of the biggest artists in the Bollywood music industry, he has also worked with Bollywood A-list actors such as Nargis Fakhri & Sonakshi Sinha as well as international artists such as Sean Kingston, Canadian Rap legend, Kardinal Offishall and multi-platinum, Grammy-winning producer, Boi-1Da.

Parichay has over 100 Million views on his music on YouTube and has toured the world performing at over 500 events. He is currently working on his 4th studio album titled “Moodz” that is said to have a never-heard-before hybrid sound called “Bolly-Trap”.

Randy Persaud is a prolific character in the Peel Region who champions many events throughout his community. Charged as the cities’ Hypemachine, Randy is one of the most sought after hosts, announcers and community producers in the city.

A charismatic Rogers Television personality for over 7 years, Randy has hosted a variety of programs from Talk Local, Local Notes, Carassauga Pre-Show, The MARTY Awards Kickoff show and Cable 10 Live.

Randy has hosted crowds of over 80,000 for many events from the Bollywood Monster Mashup, Youth Day, MAC Arts Festival, Mississauga Waterfront Festival, The Pan Am Games and Carassauga. In 2016, Randy won the Creative Community award by the Mississauga Arts Council at the MARTY Awards for his work in the community.

The Band Destiny

Talented, energetic, passionate and diverse are just some of the many words that describe The

Band Destiny (TBD). TBD is a Toronto-based West Indian Crossover band that was formed in 2007. They are the three-time winners of the CMEA award for Top Soca Band in Canada. Currently, the members include; Stephen Nanan (Founder/Keyboardist), Curtis B (Vocalist), Kiran Dindial (Drummer), Kamela Singh (Keyboardist/Vocalist), Vijai Ramdath (Engineer), Celine Nanan (Rhythm & Machines), Darren Armoogam (Guitarist/Vocalist) and Logun (Vocalist). Together they make up The Band Destiny, creating a fusion of music that incorporates Soca, Reggae, R&B, Chutney, Hindi Remixes.

Flower City Bhangra

Brampton, the Bhangra Capital of Canada, also known as the Flower City, and the Greater Toronto Area are home to a large portion of the Canadian South Asian community and particularly the Punjabi community, and hiding under its sceneries are some of the most talented Bhangra dancers and academies around the world. The traditional folk dance of Bhangra is one of the most valued heritages of the Punjabi culture and is very much alive within the GTA, not only bringing and holding a community together through the preservation of their culture but welcoming neighboring communities to witness and enjoy its joys.

The Flower City Bhangra Team showcases their talent and demonstrates their cultural values while bringing communities together, giving an opportunity to individuals to experience the cheerfulness and excitement of the Punjabi Heritage.

Staasia Daniels

Staasia Daniels is an R&B singer/songwriter/turtle-lover from Toronto who emerged from her shell and shared with the world her “Hidden Gems” in 2016: a debut EP that garnered attention, fans, and a confirmation that her decision to pursue music seriously after years of singing was indeed the right one.

A year later, Staasia reveals another love: of food, with the release of one of her top songs, “Peanut Butter”, which ultimately became a part of her second major EP, “Mood Roulette”.

Staasia has received recognition from top publications including NOW, Exclaim!, and Complex, and has electrified the stages at SXSW, A3C, CMW, NXNE, and popular venues including Toronto’s Mod Club and her own headlining shows at Drake Underground and Rivoli.

Spotify streams are in the hundreds of thousands and constantly growing, especially with the release of her latest EP, “Whatever Happens Happens”, and whatever is happening seems to be propelling her towards the stardom she exudes.

Ankita

nkita is a Toronto-based singer and performer with a wide portfolio in live concerts. Her genre ranges from pop-rock to Bollywood, and is focusing on stepping into the mainstream South-Asian music scene with her line-up or original productions, soon to be released this year.

Waris Virse De

Waris Virse De is a vibrant group of Bhangra dancers, based out of Brampton. They are not only excellent performers themselves but they can also teach Bhangra, musical instruments, and how to tie a turban!

RAAG Canada

RAAG Canada is a group of enthusiastic singers and musicians that came together in February 2018 and now perform in the GTA at various events and music lover havens. Their three singers Ravneel, Rishabh and Abhinav, all award-winners in Bollywood karaoke singing championship Mere Sung Gaa – a well-known singing contest in the GTA – sing Bollywood songs of different genres (both old and new) with each singer having a completely unique style.

About Vikas Kohli
Award-winning film composer and music producer, Vikas Kohli is the Artistic Director of Monster Creative Collective and is known for his expertise fusing together genres as varied as punk, classical and Bollywood pop. He has received the Trailblazer Award from the ReelWorld Film Festival, Voice Achievers Award and a MARTY award. Kohli sits on the board for the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund and the Mayor’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee for the City of Mississauga. He has juried for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television (Genies & Geminis), Ontario Arts Council and FACTOR. He has been profiled on ET Canada, CBC The National, The Globe & Mail, The Hindustan Times and Zee News. Born in Ottawa, Kohli attended fine arts school, received an Honours Degree in Mathematics & Philosophy from the University of Toronto, his MBA from the Schulich School of Business and his CFA.
