After the acclaim she got in Badhaai Ho, Neena Gupta is set to feature in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film Sooryavanshi. She will play a mom to Akshay Kumar despite being just being 8 years older to him.
Neena Gupta has been in news ever since she voiced her opinion against the film industry not casting women after a certain age. After that, she landed vital roles in films like Mulk and Badhaai Ho. Her portrayal in the film Mulk got critical acclaim and the other was appreciated by critics and audiences both. And now she will be seen playing Akshay Kumar’s mom in Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi.
Talking about her role in Sooryavanshi Neena Gupta told a leading daily,
”This is an interesting role because it isn’t the stereotypical mother who asks his son about food, marriage, etc., but has several dimensions. There is a new temperament to the mother, and you will get to see a very different dynamic between Akshay, Katrina and me. This is a new, sweet and interesting space that I am looking to explore. I am happy that more people will get to see my work. Rohit has made some amazing films which have been appreciated by the audience”.
Sooryavanshi, which is directed by Rohit Shetty, is produced by Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty. It stars Akshay Kumar, playing ATD chief Veer Sooryavanshi, and Katrina – who plays his love interest. The film went on floors today and is set to release on EID 2020.
According to reports, the cast will shoot in Mumbai, Thailand, Bangkok, and Hyderabad’s Ramoji Filmcity as well as Rohit Shetty’s favourite location, Goa.
