The Journey Of Ram Avatar Bhardwaj – From A Tea Seller To Becoming Atal Bihari Vajpayee In The Accidental Prime Minister

It’s always a task having the perfect cast for a film and casting for The Accidental Prime Minister was equally difficult. Director Vijay Guttee had already rejected around 50 actors for the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The production team was yet to finalize the actor to play the late politician three days prior to the shoot began.

The Accidental Prime Minister

It was a last minute decision when a tea vendor was short-listed to play the role as he had the same charm and charisma as the former Prime Minister.

Ram Avatar Bhardwaj, the tea-seller, was keen to play the role in The Accidental Prime Minister. He says,

“I don’t have any political experience. But people have always told me that I look like Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee when I smile, so I guess. I was used to the idea of being called Atalji.’’

Even during the shoot, fans of the former Prime Minister would gather around the set to click pictures with the reel Vajpayee.

Rudra Productions (UK), Bohra Bros, in association with Dr. Jayantilal Gada (Pen), present The Accidental Prime Minister. The film produced by Sunil Bohra, Dhavan Jayantilal Gada and Bloom Arts Pvt. Ltd. releases on January 11, 2019.
