Read it out here:

  1. Tell us something about your characters in Selection Day?

Karanvir Malhotra:

I am playing the character of Javed Ansari. So I am the bad boy of school and also the school cricket captain. These two of my very good friends (Radha Kumar and Manju Kumar) come to the school for the very first time and I give them a very hard time and bully them a lot, especially Radha because he is a very good batsman.

Yash Dholye:

I am playing the role of Radha Kumar. He knows what he wants to achieve in life. He is not distracted much by anything, but if someone pokes him he can f*** him. He is really focused into cricket.

Rajesh Tailang:

My character’s name is Mohan Kumar. He is a failed cricketer, so he wants to relive his dreams through his sons. He is passionate about cricket and he will do anything to get his dream fulfilled.

Mohammad Samad:

I am playing the role of Manju Kumar. Manju is a very sweet, innocent and intelligent boy. (everyone laugh)

He has a great bonding with his brother Radha and has a great fond of studying science. He has a good friendship with Javed.

  1. Funny/Memorable incident that happened while shooting.

There are a lot of memories, especially during practicing cricket. Some used to have clean socks that they used to wear every day. (everyone laughs)

Whenever he (Mohammad) used to change his socks we all used to go out of the field because we could not breathe at all. It smelled so nice (laughs)

Even the costume team used to run behind Mohammad to see that he doesn’t drink any coffee when he is wearing his cricket costume as he would spill it on his t-shirt.

  1. How was it working with each other?

Karanvir Malhotra:

It was actually good. The thing was we were together all the time. We were also sharing the vanity. We shared a very warm bond and though I don’t have a lot of scene with Rajesh Sir, he was so warm to me and we had comfortable energy with each other.

  1. How did you all feel when you got to know that you have been selected for Selection Day?

Yash Dholye:

The excitement was there that we got selected for Netflix. But later we had to come on the ground because we knew we had a great responsibility to match up with the content, quality and performance of Netflix series.

Karanvir Malhotra:

Actually I got to know that I am playing this character after a long time. They were so unsure about me till the last moment. So by the time I get to know that I had to play Javed’s role, these two were already in their character. I was really excited when I got to know that I am a part of this show because I really love cricket and I had already read the book.

Mohammad Samad:

It was the best experience for me. I love to make friends so this is why I love shooting. I got to make new friends.

  1. Rajesh Sir, what was that one thing that made you say yes to the script?

One big reason was Netflix and the production company AKFC. Then obviously the character. This is the first time I have played such a character. I was so into the character. It was fun playing the character.

  1. You guys met Sachin Tendulkar, so how was the experience?

Yash Dholye:

I was completely blank. I was mesmerized the whole time when he was with us. It was just beautiful.

Mohammad Samad:

I didn’t speak much with him. I was answering little but Yash was completely blank.

Karanvir Malhotra:

I am sure I will blank too when I meet him.
