Every year at least a hundred movies release in Bollywood, but not all strike a chord with the audience. Some big budget-highly anticipated film fare badly at the box office while on the other hand we find some hidden gems. Last year, Bollywood gave us some awesome movies and this year was no different.

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety

This film, which released on February 23rd 2018, was directed by Luv Ranjan and featured Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha, Sunny Singh and Ishita Raj Sharma. The movie focused on the relationship between two childhood buddies and the effect a woman (one’s finance) has on it.

Released on 16th March 2018, Raid is inspired by the real life income-tax raid conducted by the officers of the Income Tax Department in the 1980s. Its cast consisted of Ajay Devgn, Ileana D’Cruz, Saurabh Shukla and others.

Raazi

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Raazi starring Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Rajit Kapur, Shishir Sharma and Jaideep Ahlawat released on 11th May 2018. It tells the story of an Indian girl who is married into a Pakistani family of military officials to relay information to India, prior to the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971.

Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran

Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is based on the nuclear bomb test explosions conducted by the Indian Army at Pokhran in 1998. Starring John Abraham, Diana Penty and Boman Irani in lead roles, the film released on 25th May 2018.

Mulk

Mulk is the real-life story of a Muslim family attempting to reclaim its lost honour after a member of their family takes to terrorism. It was released on 3rd August 2018 and featured Taapsee Pannu and Rishi Kapoor in pivotal roles.

Stree

This horror-comedy directed by Amar Kaushik starred Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Abhishek Banerjee. Stree is based on the Indian urban legend Nale Ba, about a spirit who knocks on people’s doors at night and terrorizes men. It released on 31st August 2018.

Released on 21st September 2018, Manto is the Indian biographical drama film about the famous Urdu author Saadat Hasan Manto. It starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular character along with Tahir Raj Bhasin, Rasika Dugal and Rajshri Deshpande.

Badhaai Ho

This comedy-drama film directed by Amit Sharma tells the story of a middle-aged couple who get pregnant much to the disappointment of their adult son. It starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Surekha Sikri, and Sanya Malhotra and released on 18th October 2018.
