Varun Dhawan: I Would Like To Tell YRF To Keep A Special Screening For The Artisans

Sharat Katariya’s film, Sui Dhaaga – Made In India, starring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma is a film about finding love and respect through self-reliance. Varun plays Mauji a tailor and Anushka plays an embroiderer in the film.

The two have been going around in cities to urge people to buy handcrafted sarees, dresses, and bedsheets instead of purchasing it from malls.

Today, there was a special event held of Sui Dhaaga where Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma along with the artisans and people of Trade India launched the Sui Dhaaga website. Through this website, people can directly purchase stuff from the artisans and not through someone.

The website is www.suidhaaga.co.in

At the event, Varun was asked how he feels that after a long time Bollywood is making something original and a somewhat different movie?

To this the actor said:

“Previously only original cinema was been made like Mother India, Anand and many more films that had stories about our India. But then a phase came when our cinema was influenced by western culture. But now it’s quite cool I might say, because in 2016, 2017, 2018 we have gone back to our heartland. Many stories have come that are related to our heartland.”

He added:

“I myself have done Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania which have heartland characters. Anushka’s first movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, it was a very rooted character and not a very modern or urban character. So I think the heartland characters will always connect more because at the end “Apna Dil Hindustani Hai” (our heart is Hindustani). Whatever we wear, whatever we say, how much ever cool we behave, the Indian sentiment that gets connected, nothing is bigger than that.”

Further, the actor was also asked about whether there will any special screenings for the artisans? To this he said:

“I would like to tell YRF (Yash Raj Films) to keep a special screening for the artisans. And now they will have to do it because I announced it in front of the media. (Laughs) And also whatever promotions happen I hope it happens in India only and we don’t need to go out. (laughs)”.

The National Award-winning dream-team of director Sharat Katariya and producer Maneesh Sharma have teamed up again for this Yash Raj Films’ entertainer, Sui Dhaaga- Made In India, that is set to release on September 28 this year.
