Today the makers of Batti Gul Meter Chalu starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Divyenndu Sharma released the trailer of the movie today.
Today at the trailer launch a journalist asked Shahid:
Haider and Udtaa Punjab were a social related film and even Batti Gul Meter Chalu is like that. so is this your conscious choice to do such films, to pass on a message to the audience?
“This is an extremely mainstream film. You all have watched the trailer. I think the issues don’t make a film non mainstream, I think the take on the issues makes a film mainstream.
So if the title of the film was not Batti Gul Meter Chalu but something serious like Andhere ka something, so maybe this film’s tonality and reach would be different. I always believe that if you want to say something, you should reach it out to maximum people. Shree Sir has done a great job. Even in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, he picked up an issue about the toilet that could reach to many people. So if you see this title, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, it is a very quirky title and if you watch the trailer it is all full of humour and fun and in between where ever he could give a message he has done that.”
