Have done theatre, television, and movies, Namit Das has entertained us with varied roles. Famously known as Sumit from Star Plus’ show Sumit Sambhal Lega, Namit is all set for his next series Table No 5 with ZEE5.

UrbanAsian got a chance to interview Namit Das where the actor spoke about working with ZEE5, his love for acting and many more.
Read it out here:
1. Can you tell us something about your character in Table No 5?
These are like 5 stories and I am part of one. I am playing the character of an aspiring magician and follows next is an unexpected encounter with a senior magician and he looks up to this magician but eventually what follows is what the story is about.
- How did you prepare yourself for this role?
I was very lucky. I didn’t have to do any preparation as such. This is not theatre, this is a cinema and since a camera is the medium, we did not have to do much preparation.
- How was it working with ZEE5?
Very good. I had a fantastic experience. For a new beginning, for what they stand for, they have done a fabulous job. 10 on 10 to the person who made the set and executed it because it looked so real. They really take care of people. I really hope that it becomes bigger each day because they are have also supported very interesting stories.
- How was it working with Mohan Kapoor?
We were catching up on stuff because we have also worked together in Sumit Sambhal Lega. He played the role of my father. And Mohan is an extremely experienced actor to work with. We got it done in one day, because of the writing which really helped us.
- Is it easier to work with someone you have already worked with?
Yes! Of course. I was so happy when I came to know that Mohan is going to be the other senior magician and I felt really happy. And it is always nice to act with someone whom you know or with whom you have interacted or worked with before because you know how she/he is going to be on set with you so there is no extra effort you have to put in knowing the person.
- How was it working with the writer- Bhavesh Mandalia?
Great. They are very good. There were changes that were made on set and also I had few questions about the script and there were answers ready always. Bhavesh is soo talented. And it is always nice to work with someone who always has an answer.
- What do you enjoy doing the most- Theatre, Movies or Television?
I enjoy experimenting. The medium now doesn’t matter, I just need to be out there. Yes, I would say that theatre would be mine because it is the actor’s medium at the end of the day. I am enjoying camera as well as I am getting to work with great directors and actors as well.
- Are you planning to get into direction anytime soon?
I would love to but right now I don’t have time because I am actually busy with my music right now.
- Do digital platforms play an important role in the life of artists nowadays?
Of course. Hugely. Because it is such a big medium. It is so close to the masses. It reaches people too quickly and it is easily available also.
- What kind of roles challenge you the most?
Any kind of roles challenges me. All kind of roles bring butterfly in my tummies.
11. Are there any plans for Sumit Sambhal Lega season 2?
I really don’t know. The channel keeps throwing false hopes to us. But the episodes are available on Hotstar.
12. What’s next?
Sui Dhaga and Chhuriyaan. At the moment busy with this.
