Karan Johar: My Film Deals Not Only With A Man’s Right To Seek Pleasure But A Woman’s Also

The trailer of Ronnie Screwvala’s RSPV’s Lust Stories for Netflix released some time ago.

The directors – Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, and Dibankar Banerjee, spoke about their film and what aspects of love and lust they have incorporated in it. Anurag Kashyap was missing from the launch as the director is currently in Los Angeles.

When asked about his film, Karan Johar said,

“Hate Story has more sex than Lust Stories.”

He continued,

“My film is about seeking pleasure and that, it is just not a man’s right to seek pleasure but a woman’s also.”

Dibakar Banerjee said,

“My story is about lying, infidelity and wanting to tell the truth but not being able to. It is about wanting to be with somebody you are not allowed to be with.”

Speaking about her film, Zoya Akhtar said,

“My story is about love and lust, but in the context of class in India”.

When asked about competing with Salman Khan’s Race 3, KJo said,

“Humari itni aukat nahi hai ki hum usse compete kare.”

He even said,

“I will probably be watching Race 3 on 15th June and not Lust Stories.”

Lust Stories is a combination of four short films directed by acclaimed directors Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap. It stars Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Sanjay Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Radhika Apte, Manisha Koirala, Jaideep Ahlawat, Kiara Advani and others. It releases on Netflix on 15th June.
