Sudhir Mishra: I Don’t Have Heroes In My Films, I Have Actors

Sudhir Mishra’s magnum opus Daas Dev starring Richa Chadha, Rahul Bhat and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead will release on March 23rd.

Daas Dev is Sudhir Mishra’s reverse take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s cult classic Dev Daas. The film is set against the fiercely political backdrop of Uttar Pradesh and tells the tale of lust for power and how it obstructs love.

The film stars Rahul Bhat as Dev, Richa Chadha as Paro and Aditi Rao Hydari as Chandni. In step with the lead cast are power packed performances by Saurabh Shukhla in one of the most complex roles of his career along with Vipin Sharma, Dalip Tahil, Deep Raj Rana, Anil Sharma and Sohaila Kapoor. Anurag Kashyap and Vineet Singh will be seen in special appearances.

The latest poster look was released and features all the talented actors from the film.

Said Sudhir Mishra,

“I don’t have heroes in my films, I have actors. I saw Dev in Rahul when I watched him in another film and his vulnerability spoke to me. Richa’s fiercely independent persona made her perfect for my Paro who reserves the right to do wrong in order to do right and stands up to Dev at every given point. Chandni in my film is a very real person who we see servicing the political forces of our times, a money handler, fixer, and manipulator but with one fatal flaw, her love for Dev. While writing this character the only person I could think of was Aditi.”

He continued,

“Saurabh Shukla plays the main antagonist in Daas Dev and effectively characterizes this very complex role to perfection. Vipin Sharma, DalipTahil, and Deep Raj Rana’s performances yet again bring to fore their finesse as performers. Anil Sharma has been in every one of my films since Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and continues to bring his prowess as an actor to my characters. And Sohaila Kapur who plays Dev’s mother brings definitive grace to her role. Anurag Kashyap and Vineet Singh add their own brand of brilliance in the brief appearances they make. Daas Dev to me is the coming together of powerful actors performing at their optimum to create a world which resonates with the current mindset of the country and resonating with this is the music of the film. The first song Sehmi Hai Dhadkan composed by Vipin Patwa and Sung beautifully by Atif Aslam recently released and has garnered tremendous appreciation.”
