India’s oldest music label, Saregama’s Yoodlee Production is back with their second movie titled Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz, a love story in the age of social media.
The film has been directed by Onir and marks the debut of model Zain Khan Durrani and National Award-winning actress Geetanjali Thapa as the lead actors.
The story revolves around the love – in the digital age and times of social media – of two characters, RJ Alfaaz (Zain Khan Durrani) and meme artist Archana (Geetanjali Thapa).
Zain and Geetanjali didn’t know each other before they shot their first scene together. This film is based on love in the digital age, and hence the lead pair has a few scenes together. They have been shown conversing with WhatsApp or phone calls almost all throughout the movie.
Onir made sure he shoots their separate scenes first so that the anticipation and expressions of meeting an unknown face seem natural. Hence, Zain and Geetanjali only met the first time during their scene together which was right at the end of the schedule.
The concept of Kuch Bheege Alfaaz is now out and the movie looks fresh and novel and with this effort of showing the actors authentic expressions, it surely becomes a wait worthwhile.
We have seen Bollywood directors asking actors to follow method acting but this was a step ahead to get the natural essence of their first meet with a total stranger.
Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz is an interesting take on modern day love, where two strangers remain hidden behind digital screens, sparking off an unlikely romance. But do the emojis translate to emotions when they reveal their truth to one another is worth watching?
The film is scheduled to release this Valentine Weekend on 16th February.
