UA Exclusive| Vishal Mishra: Judging Is Very Difficult Task And Whenever I Am Ready

Singer and Composer Vishal Mishra is known for composing music in film Tutak Tutak Tutiya. His upcoming Bollywood projects as a music composer are Irrfan Khan starrer ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’  and Anand L Rai’s ‘Aapke Kamre Main Koi Rehta Hai’ among others. His recent song was Pyaar Ho from Munna Micheal.

 

 

Vishal has also composed for a few upcoming Marathi films like Mahesh Manjrekar’s Spruha, Aakash Thosar (Sairat Fame) starrer ‘FU – Friendship Unlimited’, Bhikhari and Koregaon Park.

We at UrbanAsian got a chance to interview him. Have a look:

1. Who/What inspired you to become a music composer?

I think the things that inspired me to become a music composer were the songs that I grew up listening to. I wanted to recreate the magic of yesteryear’s music. What we hear today is somewhat inspired by the past. I was fortunate to grow at a time when music was surreal and that somewhere has been my inspiration. Being inclined to music all along, I think composing music was my calling in life.

 

 

2. You had been part of a reality show, ‘Bharat Ki Shaan – Singing Star’. When will we see you judging any singing reality show?

Bharat Ki Shaan was a wonderful experience. Judging is a very difficult task and whenever I am ready and if it interests me then you will surely see me judging a reality show.

 

 

 

3. Who is your favorite singer?

I don’t think I can choose any one person. The current crop of singers is brilliant. Of course, there is the evergreen Sonu Nigam who I think everyone loves, Arijit of course and quite a few others. They all have their strengths and choosing one will be unfair.

 

 

 

 

4. What genre are you most comfortable in?

My genre is making music that touches my soul. It can be a dance number, a ballet, a hip-hop number it just has to be something that I connect with my soul.

 

 

5. An actor for whom you would want to compose a song?

I am a very greedy man. I want to compose for everybody and every actor whose doing great work.

 

 

6. Have you been in a situation where you had to compose something in a few hours and you couldn’t? If yes, when?

Fortunately, I have never been in a situation where I had to compose and I couldn’t make it. Nearly 100% of my tunes have been composed in less than one hour. I am impulsive by nature and my first attempt usually is what works best.

 

 

7. Any Upcoming Projects

I am doing a film with Gaurav Sinha, it’s a beautiful film it’s called ‘Aapke Kamre Main Koi Rehta Hai’, then I am doing a film called ‘Pranaam’ it’s a project where I loved the script as it was beautiful. Then I am doing a film for Phantom as well.
