Kaalakaandi, which released last week on 12th January is a production venture by Cinestaan which had been made on a tight budget of Rs 7 crore. Since the film is targeted at a niche audience, only a modest sum has been set aside to market the movie.
The makers have managed to create just the right buzz among the target audience by smartly spending just Rs 4 crore on promotional activities. That’s a total budget of Rs 11 crore.
And the interesting part is that the music, satellite and digital rights of Kaalakaandi have already been sold for Rs 11 crore.
Since the producers have already recovered their entire investment, all the money that the film earns from ticket sales will be completely Pure Profit.
Produced by Cinestaan Film Company and Ashi Dua Sara of Flying Unicorn, the film stars Saif Ali Khan along with the eclectic ensemble of Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Akshay Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasury, Shivam Patil, Amyra Dastur and Neil Bhoopalam. The film released on 12th January 2018.
