Indian playback singer, Raman Mahadevan, has had quite a career in India. He has sung in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Marathi for songs in movies. However, beyond playback, he has had a successful partnership with musician and composer, Jirka Mucha. Earlier this year, this partnership had brought you the hit song Chintamani. Now, Mahadevan is back to amaze his fans and all music lovers with another gem from his kitty. This track, titled “Tu,” is the second one in the Raman and Jirka partnership. It features lyrics by Shellee of Dev D and Udta Punjab fame.
When we told you about the track a few days ago, we knew it would be a hit! However, we didn’t know just how quickly it would grow! The video for “Tu” immediately began trending everywhere just a couple hours after going live on YouTube! It trended at #6 in India and #15 worldwide!
The song, “Tu”, lyrically and musically delineates the divine force called God and our faith in this force’s omnipresence. It reminds us that God resides in everything and is everywhere – all around, in you, in me, and in nature. Tu simply emphasizes the beauty of the divine force.
The first video that Raman and Jirka collaborated on was Chintamani that released in August 2017. It was a soulful melodious song that married Indian music from the core of its heritage to the more contemporary yet gentle tunes of the guitar. It was an effortless fusion of Sanskrit verses and modern harmonies.
We wish Raman and Jirka all the luck for their endeavor! We are looking forward to more music from them!
