With the release date of Star Wars coming closer, here’s a whole lot of new images to spike up the excitement. We bring you some of the pictures that were exclusively launched by Entertainment Weekly. Check them out below.
The Big Deal and the Fixer
Let’s begin with Finn and Rose escorting BB-8 through the opulent corridors of power in the city of Canto Bight. That isn’t a place where you would want to be caught wearing a scruffy jumpsuit or a hand-men-down jacket.
The Master Watches
Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker watches from a cliff on the Jedi-sacred island Ahch-To as Rey (Daisy Ridley) practices her skills with his old family light saber.
Rey and Kylo Ren
Here’s Daisy Ridley’s Jedi hopeful in a dangerous situation, with the looming presence of Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren behind her.
Carrie Fisher and Rian Johnson
After Carrie Fisher’s unexpected death last year, The Last Jedi will mark her final appearance in a Star Wars film. In the picture she is seen with the film maker Rian Johnson. Her job in this movie is to hand off the reins of power.
The General and the Captain
Oscar Issac said that he and Fisher shared a similar relationship to their characters. As seen in the picture, they are in the midst of a First Order attack on their fleet. The actor said that it was a really beautiful little scene that happened between the two of them.
Another character to be explored in more depth (but without spoilers) is Laura Dern’s Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo. She steps in with an aim to bring new vision to the Resistance but ends up clashing with Poe Dameron, who has different ideas for how the war should be waged.
Fast Enough For You…
Porgs don’t make this ship fly any faster, but they sure look cool on the dashboard
Nothing Lasts Forever
And we both know hearts can change
There is much debate about this shot from the trailer. Is Rey raising her light saber against Luke Skywalker … or is she actually lowering it, and the footage was played in reverse in that promo to throw off the deep-dive analyzers? This shot has definitely created a curious thought in our minds and we all are eager to see which directions she takes from here.
An Anger that Never Dies
Kylo Ren loses his helmet in this movie (if smashing it to pieces in a white-hot rage counts as “losing it.”) Adam Driver says the anger and unhappiness built up inside the former Ben Solo makes him push himself to extremes. He’s constantly trying to prove something, if only to himself.
First Order, Coming Through
Kylo Ren’s bat-winged shuttle hovers over a line of AT-M6s – the “gorilla walkers” that are surging across the salt flats of the mining world of Crait. They are heading towards the Resistance holed up in an abandoned Rebel base that dates back to the battles of the original trilogy.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson, releases on 15th December 2017.
