Shahbaz Khan is set to play a mythological figure in his next, Karmphal Data Shani produced by Siddharth Kumar Tewary and Rahul Kumar Tewary (Swastik Productions). Besides tracing the journey of Shani, the show will now highlight how the King of Lanka, Ravana, acquired his kingdom, with Khan playing the demon-king.
Khan, evidently elated at bagging a chance to play the role, told Mid-Day,
“It is an honour for me to be playing this role. It’s an opportunity people get once in a lifetime. I have always been fascinated by Ravana. People tend to view him as an all-negative character. But, he had his positives too. Ravana was a learned pandit.”
Interestingly, Khan had previously featured in a show titled Ravana (2008), which saw him essay the role of King Shahastarjun, who opposed Ravana. Karmphal Data Shani will now depict the conflict between Ravana and Shani over the acquisition of the Swarna Mahal (Golden Temple).
